Malaysia, 12 December 2022: Penguin Random House SEA announced the release of the first and only authorized memoir of award-winning entrepreneur and fashion icon Vivy Yusof’s debut book, titled The First Decade: My Journey from Blogger to Entrepreneur. This epic life account of Vivy’s journey from blogger to businesswoman was released amidst much fanfare at an exclusive event hosted for her fans and readers by the publishing house in Kuala Lumpur on 11 December, which also marked Vivy Yusof’s birthday.
The event, which was open to the public, celebrated the first-time writer Vivy Yusof’s professional and personal journey to becoming the co-founder of one of the most successful modest fashion brands in Asia. With over 150 people in attendance, popular TV host Dino Omar, as the emcee, brought his classic style to the event and ensured the audience was enraptured at all times. Peppered with humour and wit, his hosting skills matched the tone of the book and Vivy’s dynamic personality.
At the launch, Vivy was in conversation with Prashant Kumar, Founder of Entropia and author of Made in Future, also published by Penguin. Their discussion was inspiring and intimate as two founders and owners of businesses and brands shared their trials and tribulations, successes and secrets of entrepreneurship.
Always keeping it real and relatable, Vivy captivated the audience with a reading from her book, which very aptly showcased the evolution of her work, efforts, business and brand as she donned the new role of a writer on the day of the launch. The event closed with Vivy taking photos with her fans and signing books for the readers.
Commenting on the launch of her book, Vivy Yusof said, ‘I started my journey blogging and writing for newspaper columns and now it has come full circle with the launch of my book The First Decade. I cannot thank Penguin enough for publishing this book, a 10-year compilation of my highest highs and lowest lows as an entrepreneur. This is not a memoir or success story of any kind, but an honest review of my first 10 years of being an entrepreneur. I share my mistakes and tips I’ve picked up along the way and hope other young entrepreneurs can benefit from them too.’
The First Decade: My Journey from Blogger to Entrepreneur is a candid view of the life of Vivy Yusof as a young woman entrepreneur thriving in the e-commerce fashion industry. The first hijabi ‘Friend of Louis Vuitton’ ever, Group Creative Director of FashionValet Group, and Co-Founder of the modest fashion brand The dUCk Group, the fastest-growing player in the modest fashion industry, Vivy Yusof’s debut book The First Decade is perfect for many people who are looking for inspiration to be their true selves while making something of themselves. The First Decade is now available in bookstores in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Jakarta in Indonesia and Bandar Seri Begawan in Brunei and in Singapore.
Nora Nazerene Abu Bakar, Publisher, Penguin Random House SEA, says, ‘Vivy’s book The First Decade is perhaps one of the most anticipated books of the year in South East Asia. A fearless storyteller, we thank Vivy for choosing Penguin to share her stories with the world. Saying it like it is, she gives the readers a frank and real account of herself as an entrepreneur, a celebrity, a mother, a wife and most importantly as a woman. It is a privilege to publish one of the most inspiring stories of our times.’
